hhm'S 155 hOTELS "lIGHT iT uP bLUE"

(Philadelphia) - April 5th, 2016

HHM has launched their second, month-long fund and awareness raising campaign partnering with Autism Speaks for the month of April.

Last year, the company embarked upon their first, full fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $50,000. HHM surpassed that goal - raising over $90,000 and this year, aims to raise more than $150,000. "Our goal as a hospitality organization is to look beyond our bottom line and see how we are improving the lives of our guests, employees, environment and community, which we implement through EarthView - our unique, sustainable hospitality program," says HHM CEO Naveen Kakarla. "Our Autism Awareness partnership is one of our most valuable and impactful causes, which we are proud to build upon every year."

Each of HHM's hotels will be boasting a variety of fund and awareness-raising promotions, activities and events. Additional programs to the "Light it up Blue" initiative include front desk donation collection, awareness increasing uniform updates (including blue outfit days and puzzle-piece pins), blue cocktail and dish offerings, special events and more.

One of HHM's landmark properties and Philadelphia's most prestigious hotel - The Rittenhouse - will be implementing a variety of these programs. From offering Autism Speaks signature puzzle piece emblem in the form of house-made cookies at reception to donating 20% of all proceeds on a specialty "Paint it Blue" pedicure in The Rittenhouse Spa & Club and a "Light it up Blue (Hawaiian)" cocktail across their outlets for the month of April - The Rittenhouse is in full support of this important HHM partnership. They will wrap up the month-long campaign with a client appreciation reception on April 28th , featuring their signature Autism Speaks cocktail and other awareness-raising offerings.

Luxury, independent Hotel 48LEX New York, located in Manhattan's Midtown East section, will create awareness with blue chocolates featured at turndown service - in addition to switching their lights over to blue. They are also partnering with Charitybuzz to auction off a premium, three-night package.

Another of HHM's marquee independent properties, The Graham Georgetown - a boutique hotel in Washington DC and part of The Independent Collection - will host their second annual rooftop, blue carpet gala on April 29th in partnership with the locally-based, national Autism Speaks headquarters - all proceeds will benefit the organization.

Every hotel in the portfolio will also be encouraging guests to purchase raffle tickets to win an HHM Blues Traveler Experience. From an unparalleled, week-long California Coast package (including luxury accommodations, a rental car, guided wine tours and other unique experiences) to a celebrity-style weekend in the coveted Tribeca neighborhood of New York City - entrants are eligible to win an exciting vacation from coast to coast, simply by purchasing a $5 raffle ticket at any HHM property front desk.

Meet David mcmanus, general manager at hyatt union square new york

Where are you from originally?

I am originally from Port Jefferson, NY and now reside in Northport, NY.

Where do you love to vacation?

Palm Beach, Florida

What's the strangest thing you've ever witnessed at a hotel?

When you have been a General Manager in New York City for 20 years, nothing is strange anymore. I do have a story that made me realize how fragile life can be. There was a hotel guest at one property that suffered a brain hemorrhage in the middle of the night and wandered out of her room and into the guest corridor to lie down. Our security found her unresponsive and immediately called 911. When the guest arrived to the hospital, she was quickly taken into surgery, and we were notified that had it been 15 more minutes, they wouldn't have been able to save her life. It reminded me of the incredible responsibility that we, as hotel employees, have every single day to ensure the best care for our guests.

What is your idea of a perfect dinner?

Great ambiance, high level of service, and quality food in a relaxed atmosphere with good company.

What mobile app can you not live without?

I'm an ‘old-school' guy, and what that means is that my phone is used primarily for texting and calling my family and friends. In terms of apps, my alarm clock wakes me up every morning, and the maps app allows me to get to places without having to ask for directions.

What is the best thing about your job?

The ability to work with a team towards a common goal to create authentic memorable experiences for our guests.

Where do you take friends for a drink?

If I am staying within our hotel, our single malt lounge SINGL, is the ideal place to grab a great class of whisky. If I am anywhere in the island of Manhattan, Strip House Steakhouse Lounge has the perfect atmosphere, drink and food menu.

Richard store will serve as a new tech hub in Union Square, capitalizing on the academic and transit advantages offered by the neighborhood," said EDC President Maria Torres-Springer. Union Square's accessibility to transit, shopping, and restaurants, make the site ideal for technology and creative businesses. "The Union Square Partnership is thrilled that NYCEDC is developing 124 East 14th Street as a new commercial hub for 21st century businesses," said Jennifer Falk, Executive Director of the Union Square Partnership. "This is another terrific example of NYCEDC finding creative solutions for businesses, which are hard pressed to find adequate space."
