A Hotel for New Yorkers & Travelers Alike

Our antique limestone façade is not the only thing preserved at Hyatt Union Square New York. As a hip new neighborhood hub for drinks, fine dining, coffee in the morning, and lunch in the afternoon, we're active members of the Union Square Partnership, equally invested in the community as our residential neighbors. Union Square is the most historic gathering place in the city, full of luscious grass, shade trees, and statues of historic icons such as Mahatma Gandhi and George Washington. How do I Hail a Cab?

  • Stand on the curb facing oncoming traffic
  • Available cabs will have a light on the top
  • Raise your hand and a cab will drive over

What is proper Subway Etiquette?

  • Never get on an empty subway car.  It's empty for a reason.
  • Remove backpacks/hold bags at your side when standing in a crowded subway car.
  • Rides are $2.75.  Buy a Metro card--It never expires!
  • You are not obligated to tip Subway entertainers.
  • Move away from the entrance after reaching the top of the subway stairs.
  • If you see something, say something!

What should I tip in NYC?

  • Tipping is customary in the US and is not included in prices. Ask for a manager if you received poor service and do not feel tipping appropriate. In restaurants, tips should be 15-20% of the bill
  • For lounges, pubs, and bars, servers should receive $1 per drink
  • 20% is customary for other service industry services such as salon or spas
