Summer Food Festivals & Extreme Dining in NYC - Battle of the Burger
Unlimited Beer & Burger Contest Dining in NYC
Battle of the Burger
11 Fulton St
Beer. Burgers. Live Music. Summer is the season of indulgence, and few events offer the opportunity to stretch your stomach in its spirit quite like Time Out New York's Battle of the Burger. A first-rate grill-off like none other, 20 of the best burgers in NYC will compete for the crown in the Seaport District on August 19th. In addition to tastes of all the grilled offerings, lucky attendees are also entitled to unlimited beer from Amstel Light and Amstel Radler (hence the event is limited to ages 21 and over). If cold brews and meat are your idea of the perfect summer pairing, consider springing the extra $25 for VIP admission, granting early access and extended tasting hours.
A Taste of What's to Come
This year's top contenders have yet to be determined, but if the spread from 2014 is any measure, burger fans are in for a flavor-packed, finger-licking, juice-down-the-arms adventure. Citywide favorites likely to make repeat appearances include:
201 1st Avenue
A hip Filipino gastropub in the East Village, their "Choriburger" was last year's winner of the Golden Burger Award, with a half-beef, half-longganisa (spiced sausage) patty, Maggi aioli, banana ketchup, and Philippine pickles on Challah.
247 5th Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11215
The 2014 runner-up is lovingly modeled after the classic McDonald's cheeseburger, elevating every ingredient to a savory state of edible heaven.
The Kettle Black
8622 Third Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11209
Another fan favorite out of Brooklyn, their Texas Dunk is a wholly unique burger experience - 100% American beef on grilled, garlic-buttered Texas toast, with melted mozzarella and an au jus dipping sauce.
